今日は高速バスで滋賀県草津に行きます。
日本の高速バスはとても便利で快適。しかも、他の国のバスと比べると「へえ、こんなことするんだ！」と思うような独特の習慣も。
海外のバスにも面白い点がたくさんあるので、違いを楽しむ気持ちで比べてみました。
【日本の高速バス：ユニークな習慣5選】
1. おじぎして出発・到着
運転手さんが出発前や到着時に深くお辞儀をしてくれるのは、日本ならではの光景。
This polite bow by the driver before and after the ride is something uniquely Japanese.
In many countries, the driver might simply greet you with a smile or a wave — both are warm and welcoming in their own ways.
2. とても静かな車内
車内はとても静か。電話はNG、会話も控えめ。
The bus is usually very quiet. Talking on the phone is discouraged, and conversations are kept low.
In some other countries, it’s common for passengers to chat, listen to music, or even watch videos without headphones. It creates a lively, social atmosphere!
3. 座席にブランケット・スリッパ・USB
ブランケットや足置き、USBポートがついていることも。夜行バスにはスリッパやアイマスクまで！
Blankets, footrests, slippers, and even USB ports are provided — especially on overnight buses!
Elsewhere, buses might focus more on speed and simplicity, but you can sometimes find onboard snacks or entertainment screens.
4. 数分単位で正確な運行
バスは出発・到着時刻にほぼぴったり。数分でも遅れると運転手が丁寧に謝ってくれることも。
Japanese buses often leave and arrive right on schedule, sometimes down to the minute!
In some countries, people take a more flexible approach to time — a delay isn’t seen as a big deal. It can be a nice reminder to slow down and go with the flow.
5. 乗り降りのマナーが丁寧
並んで静かに順番を待ち、降りる人が先。運転手さんにも「ありがとうございました」と言って降りる人が多いです。
Passengers line up quietly, let others off first, and often thank the driver when getting off.
In other cultures, people might be quicker to board or exit, especially if the bus is crowded — it’s just a different rhythm.
