“My bike is not a motorcycle.”
これって紛らわしいよね。
日本人は「オートバイ」のことを「バイク」と呼ぶから、
「いや、それはバイクでしょう！」って思っちゃう。

Mini Joe:
“I was riding my electric bicycle the other day.”
「この前さ、ぼく電動自転車に乗ってたんだ。」
健太郎先生:
“Really? An electric bicycle?”
「へぇ、電動自転車？ Electric bicycle だね？」
Mini Joe:
“But then a passerby shouted, ‘Hey! That looks like a motorcycle! Dangerous!’”
「でもね、通行人に “Hey! That looks like a motorcycle! Dangerous!” って言われちゃったんだよ。」
健太郎先生:
“What? They thought it was a motorcycle? That’s funny!”
「えっ、オートバイと間違われたの？ That’s funny!」
Mini Joe:
“Yeah, because it goes really fast, even uphill. I thought, ‘Wow, this is not a bicycle anymore!’”
「そうなの。たしかにスピード出るし、坂道でもスイスイ。ぼくも ‘Wow, this is not a bicycle anymore!’ って思ったよ。」
健太郎先生:
“Modern e-bikes are really powerful. The batteries last longer, and the assist system is amazing.”
「最近の電動自転車は really powerful だからね。バッテリーも長持ちするし、アシスト機能もすごいんだよ。」
Mini Joe:
“And you only pedal a little, then—Zoom! It moves like magic!”
「しかもね、ペダルをちょっと回すだけで ‘Zoom!’ って進むんだ。 Like magic!」
“Next time, I’ll tell people clearly, ‘This is just an electric bicycle!’”
「今度は通行人にちゃんと ‘This is just an electric bicycle!’ って説明できるようにするよ。」
健太郎先生:
“Good idea! Technology is amazing, isn’t it?”
「いいね！それにしても technology is amazing, isn’t it?」
